St. Agatha race - 22.09.2013
This race in Upper Austria was the last race of the season 2013 for the team-edlinger. Therefore, the expectations were enormous in any kind of way. The weather was quite unstable, even though, all heats were held under dry conditions.
With stable practice runs, which were the fastest of all touring cars, Erich Edlinger was able to push the BMW 320 IRL evo to better times again and again. As a result of that, Erich got a good feeling for the car and the track, and additionally a good setup could be found for the race.
Beside the racing goals, the team-edlinger also tried to improve its appearance beside the track. New standards were set with a live camera from the start, which could be watched in the paddock by the guests and sponsors of the team.
The very big and competitive field of pilots as result of the fact that the race counts to the Czech, the German and to the Austrian Hillclimb Championship put some pressure on the team, but Erich managed to stay far in front on P1. Thousands of racing fans were able to watch to incredible racing action and saw Erich setting two 1:15 times, which were far the fastest touring car times.
Eventually, these amazing times led to a victory with a distance of about four seconds to the second fastest touring car. Together with the sponsors and the crowd of fans, this victory was celebrated as it should be!
