15.08.2010 - Kammersberg race

For partially wet road surface, the first training run started and brought the first surprises for the team. The start was not good and the ceramic brakes still didn't work optimal. Fortunately, the run time was still above the teams expectations and also the fans were clearly excited.

Unfortunately, the optimisiation of the ceramic brakes in the place was no longer possible, but the launch could be better after changing the control parameters. After some minor changes the handling gets better for the second training session, but it was just before the finish when a little problem with the fuel pump relay ocurred and the acceleration was gone. This problem was quickly resolved and the BMW was ready for the first race. The launch into the first race session was a bit better than before, however, still not good. The race itself was not bad and the time of the heat (43.62 sec) was quite competitive. The team was more than satisfied.

While servicing the car between first and second race suddenly the central wheel nut jammed and it wasn't possible to remove nor fixe the front right wheel. In principle, it was only a a small damage, but repairing was not possible and a premature end of the race was inevitable.

First, the team was disappointed, but the good run times of first race and the following data analysis showed the real potential of the BMW 320 IRL evo so the positive things outweighed.
